Every ExpediShip shipment is insured — automatically. This page explains exactly what is covered, how to add more protection, and how claims work.
Free $100 Coverage on Every Shipment
Every package, pallet, crate, and piece of luggage shipped through ExpediShip automatically includes $100 of cargo insurance at no cost. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay — if your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, you can receive up to $100 in compensation even if you purchased no additional coverage.
Additional Coverage: 3% of Declared Value
Shipping something worth more than $100? You can insure your shipment for its full value at a flat rate of 3% of the declared value.
- Example: insuring a $1,000 shipment costs $30
- Example: insuring a $5,000 shipment costs $150
To add coverage, simply select insurance when filling out our quote form and declare accurate item values in the customs section — your declared values are what your coverage is based on.
What Cannot Be Insured
Our insurance eligibility follows the same rules as FedEx’s declared-value policy. Items that generally cannot be insured include:
- Cash, currency, and negotiable instruments
- Jewelry, precious stones, and precious metals above carrier limits
- Antiques, artwork, and collectibles above carrier limits
- Perishable goods
- Items prohibited from shipping (lithium batteries, aerosols, fuels, firearms)
Not sure whether your item qualifies? Ask our team when you request a quote — we will confirm eligibility before you book.
How Claims Work
If your shipment arrives damaged or goes missing:
- Contact us at [email protected] or +1 (971) 600-8900 as soon as possible
- Provide your tracking number, photos of any damage, and the packaging
- We handle the claim process with the carrier on your behalf and keep you updated until it is resolved
Keep all original packaging until your claim is fully resolved — carriers may require inspection.
